Happy Monday Fab ones! I hope your weekend was relaxing. So I've had accessories on my mind lately, specifically clutch purses. I'm a HUGE fan. Here are a few (very few) of the clutch styles I really like at the moment-

Not only are clutch purses the perfect accessory to go with your party dresses, there's a wide variety (Exotics, patent leather, embellished, silks, straw etc) out there to go with every look you could possibly dream up.

So I have so many dear ones who are recently engaged or getting married within the next year. It's super exciting, especially cause I love celebrations- weddings, showers,baby births, birthdays etc. Lately I've spent quite a bit of time looking at wedding stuff on and offline with one of my dear friends and she stumbled on these hilarious "Will you be my Maid of Honor and bridesmaid" cards on Etsy.They're even funnier as they have a lot of truth to them.

So Ladies as you pick your Maid of Honor, Bridesmaids and hostesses do what makes YOU happy (and what makes the most sense for the day), don't pick your wedding support cast based on sentiments alone. My MOH when I got married was my SUPER PATIENT sister, she's one of the few people who knows what I'm thinking before I even say it...lol.

This will probably be one of the HAPPIEST days of your life, be sure you have the people who make you happiest around you to make things go as smoothly as possible.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

One in eight women or 12.6% of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.

FACTS ABOUT BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer risk increases with age and every woman is at risk.

Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.

Seventy-seven percent of women with breast cancer are over 50.

More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74.

Seventy-one percent of black women diagnosed with breast cancer experience a five-year survival rate, while eighty-six percent of white women experience five-year survival.

The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.

Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.

Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.

Over eighty percent of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign such as fibrocystic breast disease.

Oral contraceptives may cause a slight increase in breast cancer risk; however 10 years after discontinuing use of oral contraceptives the risk is the same as for women who never used the pill.

Estrogen replacement therapy for over 5 years slightly increases breast cancer risk; however the increased risk appears to disappear 5-10 years after discontinuing the use of estrogen replacement therapy.

You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

I present Vintage Ladyee...

Several weeks ago, I mentioned working on a little project. Well, I'm finally ready to share!!! I'm adding a vintage section to Ladyee Boutique! Yay! I've always loved vintage clothing, I stayed stylish in high school by wearing and transforming my mum's old denim catsuits from the 70's (I dyed mine black), tennis skirts, platform sandals (thank God we wore the same shoe size back then)and psychedelic print tops. I love that fashion is so cyclical and the seemingly old always comes back new! I've spent the past couple of months searching for super chic vintage pieces (mostly dresses) that stay true to the feminine vibe of the lines we carry at Ladyee Boutique. Here are a few of the pieces I have so far-

I remember stumbling upon my first Tracy Reese top five years ago at Nordstrom, I feel in love instantly and have been a huge fan since then. I was drawn to the gorgeous fabric, feminine detail, appealing colours and super flattering silhouette. Tracey Reese's collections are always uber chic, super feminine and extremely versatile. We are super excited to debut Frock by Tracy Reese at Ladyee Boutique in a few weeks. Plenty Frock is Tracy Reese's secondary and ultra feminine line of fun and stylish dresses.

I'm digging the hair trends at fashion week: soft, un-serious easy to wear hair styles. I'm so lazy when it comes to my hair, I could literally live in a pony tail but thank God for the center part (oh, you didn't know that was a hairstyle...lol.) I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to my hair but I tend to get a bit bored, so I've been experimenting lately with hair ornaments and curls. I honestly had not planned on putting up another post so soon but I'm so excited I just had to pass this own. So here goes- I'm typically on the computer doing a bunch of research, reading up on fashion happenings, commenting on blogs etc till the wee hours of the AM, it started out as a necessity, since it's really the only ample amount of time I have to myself (I have a toddler...lol) but it's fast becoming second nature (not sure how healthy it is...lol.)

I'm a sucker for pretty, embellished peep toe heels. I totally got my fix today with these GORGEOUS shoes from Magrit (sigh). A Spanish family owned shoe company that's been around for 75 years. They also produce shoes for YSL etc.

Designer Spotlight- Tiffany Saidnia

Tt designer Tiffany Saidnia, an LA native, began her fashion career catering to high profile clients of notorious celebrity stylist Jessica Pastor. After a short while, she decided to join the Garmento world herself, where she could learn the actual construction of garments and work directly with designers. Ella Moss and Splendid provided her a background in knit capabilities, garment dying, and the basic world of manufacturing. She furthered her studies of designer knits as the right hand to Pegah Anvarian. Once she had mastered knits, she moved on to Joe's Jeans, where she began focusing on fit and the intricacies of the denim world. Two years at Joe's paved the way into Duarte Jeans, where she worked with denim couturier Henry Duarte. Incorporating leather and denim elements, Saidnia brought rock star couture to the contemporary market. At the same time, she officially launched Duarte into the knit world with a line of graphic tees that were hailed by a number of high profile celebrities. Keeping her theme of couture to contemporary, she launched the denim and sportswear division of Tara Subkoff’s company, Imitation of Christ.

The end of summer's near :(

Sadly it's almost the end of my fave season of the year. :( I LOVE the summer season, something about the sun, warmth, ice pops and bright colors puts and keeps me in the best mood ever. Luckily, I have tons of stuff to look forward to this fall, so knowing that keeps me chugging along cheerfully (at least most of the time.) :)

I mentioned revealing a little project I've been working on a few weeks back...it's coming along, slowly but surely and I can't wait to share it with you all. So please bear with me. :)

I was fortunate enough to meet Ugoma in person on my trip to Lagos, Nigeria for the 1st Ladyee Boutique shopping event back in May. We met at her home showroom/studio and what was supposed to be a quick 30 minute trip to view potential styles for Ladyee turned into a three and a half hour meeting of the minds. Ugoma is one of the smartest, most focused young women I've ever met. We talked business, fashion, challenges, family and much more. I also got the privilege of viewing her gorgeous collection of versatile dresses. I was and still am so impressed with the quality, attention to detail and heart put into every dress. Everything from the design of the dresses to the labels (all the labels are attached with scraps of left over fabric (RECYCLE anyone!!))are all well thought out.

I could literally do several blog posts on Ugoma, I'm so inspired by her. Without further ado, I present our first crop of Zebra dresses.

It's always awesome to meet fellow "like-minded" entrepreneurs who are so open about their small businesses (well it's important to be open to the right people.) Not only do you get to bounce ideas back and forth, I always learn something new and super useful. I had an AWESOME conversation with one such "super smart and chic" entrepreneur this weekend and oh my did she give me some MAJOR useful pointers. Thanks a mill Ms.FE!

Most serious small business owners know it's no easy feat to keep things organized, stay focused, stay patient even when you're at your wits end and juggle all the many things you have to do everyday to ensure the longevity and success of your business. Phew...just thinking about it makes me tired (well it's also 3:06am.) :) Thank God for undying passion and drive!

I for one am always so appreciative of smart folks who take the time out to actually help make our lives a tad easier by suggesting a simpler process, service, giving sincere constructive criticism or pretty much anything that will make Ladyee Boutique a better stronger, more customer focused, STYLISH shopping experience.
